THE HOUSE IN THE TREES

On a summer's day

with a bright blue sky,

I ventured

through the wood.

A house appeared

between the trees,

its roof of red

stood out

against the bark.

Its roundness

caught my eye,

a house that didn't

look like most,

its stillness

called to me.

I had an urge

to rap the door

and ask if I could enter,

but if I did

I somehow felt

I'd never want to leave

and I would stay forever.

Off I went upon my way,

before I gave in

to temptation,

to let myself

be sheltered

deep within the woods,

and never have to deal

with life.
